Quinta Vale das Papas is a 8 hectare gated property, high in the hills overlooking the Douro river. It is located in Casal de Loivos, 300 meters from one of the most famous viewpoints in the Douro region, classified by the BBC as one of the most beautiful in the world.
The abundance of water allows the valley around the property to be greener than the surrounding landscape. A rare privilege in a region characterized by its very dry schist soil.
On the property, you'll find one of the largest concentrations of juniper trees in the region, as well as olive trees, almond trees, cork oaks and a number of fruit trees.
Located 12 km from Alijó and 5 km from Pinhão, the Quinta consists of three dwellings: Casa da Vinha, surrounded by old vines; Casa do Olival, a cabin set in the middle of an olive grove; and Casa do Rochedo, a cabin built on the spot from where a large part of the schist stone, typical of this region, was removed for the construction of this development. The Quinta can sleep up to 14 guests – 10 in Casa da Vinha and 2 in each of the cabins. A housekeeping service is available and daily continental breakfast service is included.
